Myths vs Facts on Sleep.~
Myth - It’s possible to catch up on missed sleep over the weekend.~
Fact – Research shows that although recovery sleep may make one feel refreshed, it will never compensate for the sleep loss that one has encountered.~
So, if you’re the kind of person who enjoys working long nights during the week or enjoy the late evenings for catching up on your shows/books etc., you have to keep in mind that habitually following this pattern will cause significant impairments on your memory, attention and overall functioning. Not letting yourself experience deep sleep each and every night puts you at a risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Few other impacts on one’s body are seen in the reproductive system, immune system and the cardiovascular system. Sleep is your superpower, don’t compromise on your sleep.~
Matthew Walker. “Why We Sleep.” - “Human beings are in fact the only species that will deliberately deprive themselves of sleep without legitimate gain”.~
